So my followers have the context for my anger, and they know where I’m coming from. this is my blog. and this isn’t a debate—rape is rape. and some people are misogynistic and sexist and wrong. I’m angry about rape, and people who excuse people’s actions, because it still happens today and it happened to my mother, as tumblr cliche as that is.

My father should, by all things considered, be a sexist, rape-apologist neckbeard. He’s a linebacker and was a former frat boy and is a truck driver and lives in a very male world. But he grew up with an abusive father and a mother who faded into the wallpaper and had to deal with rape in his home and a father who tried to indoctrinate him. If he hadn’t had his little sister to protect who knows what he might have bought into.
And my mother’s first marriage was abusive—she had her reproductive rights taken away from her, as well as physical and sexual violence. My father met her a year after she got out of it, so his whole life he’s spent getting a first-hand education about misogyny and rape, and then taking out his lack of control in these situations (his mother and sister’s treatment, the fact he wasn’t really targeted, and then my mother’s nasty custody battle because her husband was extremely wealthy and from an influential family) in a violent way—ie football and getting into brawls with other men.
So I was raised to be very aware of these things, and with my own brand of feminism. And then my own personal experiences with sexual abuse, since I am the one in four. I’m working class, so it’s really more like one in two.
I just. Ugh.

Do you think she was scared for her life? Or do you think that maybe she accepted the position as Tyrion’s wife, one that she thought she would fill for the rest of her life? In this chapter and many after, she thinks of Tyrion and tries to convince herself to like him, but has nothing ever to say about getting over her fear of him or anything like that.
